To install Ubuntu 6.06 on ASUS-Q025H download the PC (Intel x86) alternate install CD from ubuntu.com. Now do your regular installation. The first screen after the installation will be black, press CTRL+F2 to switch to second terminal. Now you need to set up the graphics card with the open source xorg-fglrx driver.
sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx
And now we need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and replace Driver in Device section from
Driver "ati"
to
Driver "fglrx"
That's it, now reboot your notebook. The xserver should start without any problems.
To solve the Lineout problem add following to the end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
options snd-hda-intel model=z71v position_fix=1

Thank you very much for solving lineout problem. I've been without headphones on my laptop (in Ubuntu) for 2 years (since I bought it). Now, they work!! Thanks for your help. Mary (Spain)
